This service helps people who are facing threats like wage garnishment, utility shut offs, driver's license suspension, or loss of housing because of debt. It also helps if your Social Security or government benefits are being taken to pay back a federal mortgage debt of more than $2,000.

- Who can use it
- You qualify if your household income is below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines and you have limited assets. Legal Aid will also look at people with income up to 200% of federal poverty guidelines and adults age 60 and older. Your debt problem must also fit the organization's case guidelines.

- You can apply online, call to speak with someone, or walk in Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm to request a call back. An intake specialist will talk with you about your situation. In-person meetings may be available if needed.
