A staff member will talk with you to see if you need shelter. If you qualify, they will try to place you in a shelter. The goal is to help you make a plan for housing right now and for the future. There is no guarantee of immediate placement because of limited shelter space.

- Who can use it
- You can use this service if you are homeless (living outside, in a condemned building, in a car, or in a dangerous situation like stalking, human trafficking, or domestic violence). You must be 18 or older, a veteran, or part of a family with at least one adult and a minor child you have custody of. You must be physically in Cuyahoga County. Couples where both people are 60 or older can also apply. If you are a victim of domestic violence, you must first call the domestic violence hotline for assessment. You must be able to take care of yourself (take your own medicine, feed yourself, bathe, use the restroom, and get up off the floor without help). Service animals and emotional support animals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Transgender individuals can be placed in a shelter that matches the gender they identify as. If you test positive for COVID-19, tell staff at intake.

- What to expect
- Call 216-350-8816 during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm) on the day you need shelter. Leave a voicemail with your name and phone number if you reach voicemail. Staff will call you back in about 30 minutes. You must answer the phone for intake. A staff member will ask you questions to see if you qualify. If you qualify, they will work to place you in a shelter. You must be willing to go to a shelter. If you are released from a hospital, jail, or other facility, you must call on the day you are released and have nowhere to sleep that night. After hours (6:00pm-8:00am on weekdays, or on weekends and holidays), men should go to 2100 Lakeside and women should go to Norma Herr, then call back during business hours. Couples can call the next day during business hours.
