This service helps families affected by fire or disaster. They provide vouchers for items or emergency services to set up a new home.

Who can use it
You must have experienced loss due to fire or a Governor-declared disaster. You must also live in Cuyahoga County, and your household income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. You need to be a parent, caretaker, relative, legal guardian, or legal custodian of a minor child (18 or younger, or up to 18 if still in high school) who lives with you, or be pregnant in your third trimester or later.

What to expect
You can get a voucher (up to $750) for rent and/or security deposit. You can also get vouchers for appliances like stoves and refrigerators (up to $200), baby furniture, children's beds/mattresses (up to $250), children's clothing (up to $150 per child), adult clothing (up to $225 for fire/flood), and general furniture (up to $400).
What to bring
  • Proof of address Proof of income received by any member of the household during the previous 30 days. Examples of acceptable verification are pay stubs
  • letter from the employer
  • award letter
  • and self-employment records (income ledger or self-declaration). If needed
  • agency can verbally confirm income with employer or other income source - or with the applicant (if self-employed). Proof of ALL liquid assets (verbal or written) Proof of the applicant's change in circumstance leading to the current need and written proof that the applicant made a significant attempt to use other community services to meet the need presented. If pregnant
  • need a medical statement verifying pregnancy. In addition
  • if the cost of the need exceeds the amount of PRC that is to be issued
  • the applicant must provide verification that they have paid the amount in excess of the PRC payment
  • prior to receiving payment.
