They make a one-time payment for your electric and/or gas bills during the heating season to help with winter costs.

- Hours vary — see schedule belowM-F: 7:30am-5:00pm. Applications are accepted July of each year through May of the following year. The one-time benefit is typically credited starting in January.
- Who can use it
- You must get service from a PUCO-regulated company and live in Ohio. You need to be a citizen or legal resident. Your household income has to be 175% of the federal poverty level or less. They don't help people in medical facilities.

- English on-site. Other languages by phone.
- What to expect
- If you have elderly or disabled people in your home, you'll get more help automatically. The payment usually shows up in January.
- What to bring
- Proof of income
- copy of a recent heat supplier bill
- including account number
- and a copy of the electric bill if it is not the primary heating source. Proof of Citizenship or Alien Status for primary applicant
- and social security numbers of everyone in household. NOTE: All persons who share a common kitchen or bath are considered members of the same household and must apply on one application. Applicants that have a disabled member and are seeking the higher benefit must also provide proof of total and permanent disability. Persons claiming zero income must show how they are paying other bills (will need a letter from the person who is assisting them financially
