- Who can use it
- You must live in Cuyahoga County and have income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. You must be a parent, caretaker, relative, or guardian of a child under 18 living with you, or be pregnant in your third trimester or later. At least one family member must be a U.S. citizen or qualified alien. Your lease must be in your name. You must show you can pay rent going forward. You must have tried other community resources first. In most cases, you need proof of a court case about your housing within 30 days of applying. Some people do not need this court proof - including those 30 or more days behind on rent, those leaving a homeless or domestic violence shelter, those working with a domestic violence provider, those being rehoused by Children and Family Services or Senior Services, or those relocating due to lead poisoning. The program does not help people fleeing domestic violence situations if they are the person causing the violence. The program does not serve people who are fugitive felons or convicted of program fraud without repayment.
